South Asian Women’s Collective

Founded in 2015, the South Asian Women’s Collective (SAWC) is a social impact organization dedicated to advancing the social and economic well-being of South Asian women and gender-diverse individuals.

Through community-led research, innovative programming, and curated learning events, SAWC amplifies diverse voices, strengthens community networks, and drives collective action.

Our vision is to build a connected network across Canada, where South Asian women and gender-diverse individuals can thrive, lead, and shape equitable futures.

Acknowledging our Relations with the Land

The land in Ontario is covered by 46 treaties and other agreements, including the One Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, and these agreements were made to peaceably share and care for the land and its resources. Other Indigenous Nations, Europeans, and newcomers, were invited into this covenant in the spirit of respect, peace, and friendship.

Our South Asian ancestors were colonized and recolonized over centuries, and as settlers on Turtle Island, we acknowledge and continue to seek permission to co-exist on these lands, and share its resources.
